I HATE TRAVELSURE! in 2010 I travelled to The Netherlands on a working holiday visa, I went with full cover travel insurance to give me peace of mind if anything were to go wrong. Long story short, I had an accident with a scooter on a cycle path in Holland (scooters are allowed on cycle paths over there) Thankfully no one got hurt however, there was quiet a bit of damage done to the other persons scooter. When I contacted Travelsure I spoke to [name removed] and she told me straight off the bat that my claim was denied due to "personal liability" and that I had to make a "claim for consideration" thinking this was a load of bollocks I contacted my wonderful travel agent ([name removed] from Flight Center) who really helped me out and said that in my policy I was covered for personal liability. I had to write A LOT of letters to Travelsure, and went as far as contacted the general manager of Flight Center about this but plain and simple...Never ever use travelsure, they rip you off, they lie to you, they ruin your holiday and make life really hard for you, they take forever to process a claim, and they are the epitome of every profanity known to man. Please to anyone who reads this, please take my advice and do not use travelsure, and pass this message on to anyone who is thinking about getting travel insurance, the less customers they have, the faster they can go down.

I am interested in taking out a life insurance policy.

Does Pinnacle Life allow for the insured(me) to reduce the cover upon renewal to offset premium increases?

Also, is there any option to fix premiums for a period of time e.g 5 years?

Answer:

Pinnacle Life allows you to reduce cover at any time.
There is no cost to doing this.

There is no option to fix premiums.
Premiums increase each year as you get older and the risk of dying increases.

Grant, I can understand that a broker can add value when arguing a disability claim or an income protection insurance claim.

But when it comes to life insurance… you are either dead or you are not dead.

There’s not much value a broker can add to a death certificate to assist you with a life insurance claim:-)

Ok, I need some clarification. I thought that the owner of a policy is the person paying the premiums, while the beneficiary is the person or entity that receives the proceeds from the policy. If I get a life insurance policy, I'm the policy owner and must make the premium payments each year. My wife is the beneficiary and has no responsibility to make premium payments. If I die, she gets the money. Isn't this true?

Reply
The policy offered by Pinnacle Life includes only the “insured person” and the “Policy Owner”. There is no separate “beneficiary”. In this case (as you correctly point out) the Policy Owner is the person responsible for paying the premiums. The Policy Owner is also the ‘beneficiary’.

Uh-oh.. Truly grateful for this informative post about Travelsure. Now, readers may learn to read the fine print first before signing on to any travel insurance company.
