It is interesting to see an online option for Pinnacle Life. However, a few life insurance company I’ve contacted have provided me with reasons not to go with this sort of arrangement instead highlighting their plus points of:
    * Point of presents = established support
    * Payability in the event of an incidental = supported by past records, etc.
    * Pinnacle Life being relatively new and may have issues/supporting the client since it’s be reinsured with Hanover Re and not directly and any issues cannot be decided on Pinnacle (Pinnacle being sort of the middle man in the process) but instead would have to go back to Hanover Re.

What are you thoughts on this? And why is choosing Pinnacle Life better than the traditional providers?

My wife and I recently signed up for ’separate’ policies and would like clarification on the issue of ownership.
Currently each policy is owned by the insured, however we would like ownership(beneficiary) to be transferred to each other. (eg. If I die, my payout goes to my wife and vice versa).
My question is that, if we nominate both our names as owners on the policy, for example should I die, will the payment be split 50/50 to both owners(ie. 50% to wife, 50% to my estate) or will the entire amount be paid to my wife? (our preference).
If the 50/50 rule should apply, then should we just nominate one owner(beneficiary)..ie. for my wife to be the sole owner ?

This is a great question and it relates to joint ownership of a life insurance policy.
We have replied to this question in several of our blog posts.

I’m sending you this email to inquire whether your site http://blog.pinnaclelife.co.nz accepts paid sponsorships. I’m looking for site-wide links, homepage links, or link within articles. If you do, please send me back your rates.

Thanks Kelli, we do not do sponsored links or adverts on this website – we are simply about providing information about life insurance to New Zelalanders, and nothing much else.
    Thanks for the offer

Your advertising seemed to present a cost saving in this important family budget centre.
Alas it seem that 60 year olds + are excluded. Am I right?

Yes, there is a restriction that you need to be under 60 to purchase a policy or apply to switch your policy online.
This is because in the under-60 agegroup we are able to screen your health online without requiring medical evidence. If you are 60 or over we’re still able to assist you but you’ll need to contact our Pinnacle Life office directly on 0800 22 22 23 from within New Zealand or +64 9 622 5515 if you live abroad.
    Thanks, Ed

The only things I have found wrong with your service so far are:
    1. the Consumer comparison of Life Insurance providers that you reference is only available to Consumer subscribers so it could say anything….I’ll never know. Maybe you should have asked for permission to reprint the article if it showed Pinnacle in a good light?
    2. Hard to find the contact points on the website, until I came to the feedback page.
I have a question that stopped me from purchasing a policy online, who do I direct it to?
Maybe you should consider a link to an email address after the policy is quoted so that last minute hurdles can be overcome?

We regret we are not permitted to reprint the consumer article. That report is restricted to people who subscribe to Consumer. But yes, it showed us in a wonderful light…:-)
I have added our email contact details under ‘Contact Us’ on this website.
On the Pinnacle Life website a contact email address is provided under ‘Contact Us’… ask@pinnaclelife.co.nz
    Thanks for the feedback
